the expression of retinoblastoma tumor suppressor protein in oral cancers and precancers: a clinicopathological study
background: the role of retinoblastoma (rb) protein in cell cycle regulation prompted us to take up this study with the aim of assessing its role in the progression of oral cancer and to correlate with various clinicopathological parameters, including habits such as smoking, paan chewing, and alcoholism. materials and methods: this observational study included surgical specimens from 10 apparen...
متن کاملThe coronavirus endoribonuclease Nsp15 interacts with retinoblastoma tumor suppressor protein.
Coronaviruses encode an endoribonuclease, Nsp15, which has a poorly defined role in infection. Sequence analysis revealed a retinoblastoma protein-binding motif (LXCXE/D) in the majority of the Nsp15 of the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus (SARS-CoV) and its orthologs in the alpha and beta coronaviruses. The endoribonuclease activity of the SARS-CoV Nsp15 (sNsp15) was stimulated by...
متن کاملConditional haploinsufficiency of the retinoblastoma tumor suppressor gene
Recent work demonstrates that retention of a single functional retinoblastoma susceptibility (RB1) allele is insufficient to maintain genome stability. Haploinsufficiency of RB1 accelerates cancer pathogenesis in concert with inactivation of tumor protein p53. Collectively, multiple lines of evidence suggest revision of the '2-hit' model to include conditional haploinsufficiency of RB1.
متن کاملLinker Histone H1.2 Directs Genome-wide Chromatin Association of the Retinoblastoma Tumor Suppressor Protein and Facilitates Its Function
The retinoblastoma tumor suppressor protein pRb is a master regulator of cellular proliferation, principally through interaction with E2F and regulation of E2F target genes. Here, we describe the H1.2 linker histone as a major pRb interaction partner. We establish that H1.2 and pRb are found in a chromatin-bound complex on diverse E2F target genes. Interrogating the global influence of H1.2 on ...
متن کاملA neuronal function of the tumor suppressor protein merlin
Mutagenic loss of the NF2 tumor suppressor gene encoded protein merlin is known to provoke the hereditary neoplasia syndrome, Neurofibromatosis type 2 (NF2). In addition to glial cell-derived tumors in the PNS and CNS, disease-related lesions also affect the skin and the eyes. Furthermore, 60% of NF2 patients suffer from peripheral nerve damage, clinically referred to as peripheral neuropathy. ...
